The Gorges of the Nesque are located graft Villes sur Auzon and Monieux. At the bottom of the Gorges, in edge of the torrent, under a vast rock overhang, the vault Saint Michel of Anesca (of Nesque) is a building dating from the 12th century.
It is during the course of the year 1866, well before the opening of the road which overhangs this site, that Frédéric Mistral (writer of Provence founder of the movement of Félibres), discovers the Gorges of the Nesque and the wild apiaries of the Wax Rock.


The stele dedicated to Frédéric Mistral, placed on the view-point of Castelleras vis-a-vis the Rock of Wax, dominates one of the most beautiful wild sites of Provence.
The visit of the Gorges can be done in the car, the circuit is of 28 kilometers, and it is necessary to count one half-day of car. One can also carry out this course with bicycle, on condition that being well equipped.

Whatever the means of transport that you choose of many View-point make it possible you to benefit from the most spectacular points of view. In summer, the Gorges are often drained: you can thus join the you and river bed, to walk there.
